These announcements are especially for club officers. Notice that these announcements provide additional information that may not be included in the District 3 Newsletter recently distributed to all members.

TIPS FOR SPEECH CONTESTS
TABLE TOPICS and INTERNATIONAL

Speech contest season will be here before you know it.

TIP #1:

Get ready for an exciting speech contest season. All contest resources are available online here: https://www.toastmasters.org/leadership-central/speech-contests. Carefully review the Speech Contest Rulebook (Item 1171) for July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022 and keep a copy handy. Note that all the changes are marked with a diamond symbol in the left margin (example follows).

CONTEST DATES:

  • Club contests – begin in December
  • Area contests – begin in late January
  • Division contests – begin in April
  • District contests – May 21 and May 22, 2022, at the District 3 Conference
    1. Table Topics – Friday, May 21, 2022
    2. International – Saturday, May 22, 2022

Check the District 3 Events Calendar for contest dates or contact your Area Director. Contest dates and locations may move around so it is always good to verify.

TIP #2:

Get trained on how to run this year’s Table Topics and International speech contests for your club. If you want to learn more, here’s a good opportunity:

TIP #3:

If you are not competing this year, consider being a judge. To be eligible to judge a speech contest, you must have been a paid member for at least six months, with credit for level 1 and 2 in any path. Members who joined Toastmasters prior December 5, 2017 (our Pathways rollout date) may apply six speeches from the Competent Communication (CC) manual to be eligible to judge. Please email your interest to judges@aztoastmasters.org.

Schedule your club events before June 1, 2022. REMINDERS FOR OFFICERS

#1 Clubs that have semi-annual officer terms, please hold your elections this month or early in December, in time to post your new officer list in Club Central by the deadline of December 31, 2021.

#2 Winter TLI is just around the corner. If your club received Summer TLI credit for the first half of DCP goal #9, you need at least four officers to attend Winter TLI to get credit for completing DCP goal #9. Plan to attend Winter TLI. It is free and virtual.
