The Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award represents the highest educational level in Toastmasters and recognizes a superior level of achievement in both communication and leadership.

Pathways DTM Requirements

The Distinguished Toastmaster is awarded to those members who have achieved proficiency in two separate learning paths, served as a club officer for 12 months and participated in the preparation of a Club Success Plan and participated in district-sponsored club officer training program, and served a complete one-year term as a district officer.

To demonstrate their knowledge of the Toastmasters program and ability to lead teams beyond their home clubs, they must successfully guide a club to success by serving as a Club Mentor or Club Coach. Lastly, they must demonstrate the ability to lead and build new clubs by serving as a Club Sponsor, or by conducting a Speechcraft or Youth Leadership Program.

In addition, members must work closely with a Distinguished Toastmaster Project guidance committee to  create and implement a project of their own design, in which they demonstrate the skills and expertise they have gained.
