FAQ

If a candidate was not nominated by the District Leadership Committee (DLC), they can still run from the floor during the District Council Elections on April 5, 2025. Here’s how:

1️⃣ Confirm Eligibility

2️⃣ Announce Your Intent

  • Notify the District Director in writing at least seven (7) days before the election (by March 29, 2025).
  • Submit your candidacy by emailing the District Director dd@aztoastmasters.org and following any local district guidelines.

3️⃣ Prepare for the Election

  • Floor candidates will have the opportunity to participate in the District Leader Candidate Showcase on April 1 to share their vision.
  • Candidates will also have a chance to speak at the District Council Meeting before voting takes place.

4️⃣ Be Nominated from the Floor

  • During the District Council Elections on April 5, a voting member of the District Council (such as a Club President or VPE) must officially nominate you from the floor for the position.
  • Once nominated, the candidate will be placed on the ballot and may present a short speech before voting occurs.

Important Notes:

  • Floor candidates must meet all eligibility requirements to run.
  • The DLC’s nominated candidates are automatically placed on the ballot, while floor candidates must be nominated live during the election.
  • If only one candidate is nominated for a position, the District Council may choose to elect them by acclamation (without a contested vote).
