RISE UP AND BECOME A CLUB COACH

Effective July 1, 2021, coaches can also earn district leader credit, one of the requirements to achieve DTM status. To receive district leader credit, a club coach must help the club achieve Distinguished status or higher and reach a minimum of 20 paid members by June 30, 2022. The coach must serve a minimum of six months. Invest in your future DTM award. For more information, contact your club officer or cgd@aztoastmasters.org.

SAVE THE DATE: WINTER TLI

Winter Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) sessions will be virtual and free; keep an eye out for more details to come. Training is for club officers, however all members are welcome! Planned dates are:

  • Monday, December 13, 2021 at 6 pm
  • Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 9 am
  • Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 9 am
  • Monday, January 10, 2022 at 6 pm
  • Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 9 am

SUMMER TLI DCP CREDIT RESULTS

SPEECH CONTEST SEASON IS COMING!

2021-2022 International and Table Topics Speech Contests

Club speech contests may be virtual or in-person. The Area, Division, and District contests are currently scheduled to be in-person (subject to change). All contest dates will be finalized soon and posted on the district calendar.

Club Contests: Should be held before the area contest at the end of January or February. Area Contests: February and March, check with your Area Director for dates and locations. Division Contests: Location information coming soon

District Table Topics Speech Contest – May 20, 2022
District International Speech Contest – May 21, 202

Speech Contest Rulebook 2021-2022 and Things to Note:

– Competing in the International speech contest begins at the club level and moves through area, division, district and beyond to the finals at the International Convention. The Table Topics speech contest culminates at the District level.
– General contestant eligibility – Must be an active member of a club in good standing through all levels of speech contest competition.
– International speech contestant – Must also have certificates of completion in Level 1 and Level 2 of any path. Only members who joined before the rollout of Pathways can apply speech credit for 6 speeches for a Competent Communicator award.
– Refer to the Speech Contest Rulebook July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022 for a complete set of rules and regulations.

The District 3 Lunch & Learn webinar series offers a FREE sociable, collaborative way to polish our communication and leadership skills over lunchtime. This is a great way to foster a culture of learning and sharing knowledge based on others’ expertise. These sessions are open to all Toastmasters in a relaxed and a collaborative learning environment that encourages solid leadership and communication tools to add to your professional toolbox.

DISTRICT 3 SPEAKERS BUREAU

The Speakers Bureau meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday every month via Zoom. No fees to join. You just need to apply and audition. Come and join us as a guest and check us out. RISE UP FOR CLUB EVENTS

Open Houses, Anniversaries, Club Contests and other advertised events

Now through June 1, 2022, your club can earn a customizable Toastmasters gift pack worth about $100 for holding special club events throughout the 2021-2022 year. The first 20 clubs that meet and submit the requirements of the campaign to cgd@aztoastmasters.org will be able to select their prize from the District 3 Club Incentives List of Toastmasters items. PAY IT FORWARD – SEPTEMBER RECOGNITION

Pay It Forward Recognition – the top two visiting members are from Saguaro Toastmasters Club #16 and Eyeopeners. The two winning clubs are West Valley Toastmasters and Eyeopeners. The winners have been awarded the opportunity to select a gift from the Incentives List for the most visitations during the month of September. DISTRICT 3 VIRTUAL CAREER EXPO

Friday, January 28, 2022 from 9 am to 5 pm
The Event Chair is seeking volunteers interested in moderating sessions; responsibilities include providing technical assistance, monitoring session and chat, and introducing a speaker. PATHWAYS HPL PROJECT OPPORTUNITY

Tucson Book Festival March 12-13, 2022

District 3 will be participating with a booth at the Tucson Book Festival an in-person event. We have participated with a booth over the past few years, with the exception of last year when the festival was virtual.

We are announcing this event as an opportunity for a Toastmaster who is interested in creating an HPL project that encompasses leadership, team building and marketing skills for this 2-day event on the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson.
