Assistance for Starting New Clubs
Club Sponsor
Responsible for organizing the new club, including

Selling the new club idea to prospective members
-
Helping to set up regular meetings
-
Completing paperwork
-
Planning the charter presentation
Sponsors receive a certificate and credit toward the
Advanced Leader Silver (ALS) award after they return the Get Credit
form. Sponsors must apply
for credit no later than 90 days after the clubs official charter date.
Club Mentor
Should be experienced Toastmasters who actually join
the new club, providing guidance during the first six months to one year
of its existence, including

New member mentoring and orientation
-
Educational program clarification
-
Club programming and meeting organization
-
Club promotion and membership building
-
Evaluating for motivation
Mentors receive a certificate and credit toward the
Advanced Leader Silver (ALS) award after they return the Get Credit
form. Mentors may apply for
credit no sooner than six months after the clubs official charter date.
Note:
changes or additions to the sponsor or mentor assignments must be
made no later than 60 days after the clubs official charter date.
Sponsoring Club
Offers encouragement and advice to the new club
members and attend the charter presentation.
The sponsoring club works with the Club Mentor following its
charter to

Arrange inter-club meetings and exchange of
speakers and evaluators

Invite the new clubs officers to attend meetings
of the executive committee
-
Invite the new clubs members to attend anniversary
meetings, speech contests, and other special meetings
-
Present programs from
The Better Speaker Series,
The Successful Club Series,
and The Leadership Excellence
Series at the new clubs meetings
-
Remind the new club about district training
programs, area speech contests and other district meetings and
functions, encouraging the new club to participate in these events.

In District 3, it is customary,
but not required, for the
Sponsoring Club to purchase the club
banner for the new club
Sponsoring clubs earn the Founders Award club banner
ribbon.
Assistance for Existing Clubs
Club Coach
Works with clubs of 12 or fewer members, providing
special attention to helping the club become a Distinguished Club or
better by June 30 or by the following June 30.
The Club Coach can
-
Identify volunteers to conduct a Speechcraft to
help the club build its membership
-
Schedule joint meetings with nearby clubs to boost
morale and present a more effective meeting for prospective members
-
Assist in determining areas needing improvement;
i.e., meeting place, time, day, frequency, etc.

Encouraging the club members to become involved in
area and district activities
-
Actively promote the club within the community or
organization
A Club Coach helping a club achieve Distinguished
Club recognition or better by June 30 or by the following June 30 is
eligible to receive credit toward the Advanced Leader Silver (ALS) award
