Discovering
Training
Mentoring
|
This
button is given to each Toastmaster who commits to reaching a specific
educational goal by
June 30, 2008. The picture depicts a man and woman, advancing hand in hand toward a
bright future. This symbolizes Toastmasters
acceptance of all people who desire to improve
their communication and leadership abilities.
The Toastmasters process
begins for new
Toastmasters with discovery of the
Toastmasters International Competent Communicator
and Competent Leader manuals, and
fellow club members who help them develop new skills.
As the new Toastmaster becomes more advanced,
there is training in club leadership,
district
leadership, and communication skills available at
speech contests, at District conferences and
at Toastmasters Leadership Institute.
Ongoing guidance by mentors and progression through advanced
manuals and projects continue member growth.
Mentoring newer members characterizes the
final growth stage. Once communication and leadership skills are well developed, mature
Toastmasters Let Their Lives Speak by becoming
servant leaders
with a focus on helping others. The culmination of this process is
achievement of the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award, represented by
the first letter of each stage in this process.
To make your educational commitment and receive your
"DTM" button, contact Lt. Governor Education and Training, Jeff Morud at
lget@aztoastmasters.org.
