| Leadership cannot be
learned in a day, it takes practice. District 3 supports
leadership growth by offering training for service opportunities beyond
the club. Through preparation following by practice, our members
have excellent opportunities to improve those skills most valuable in
their personal and professional life. |

| Toastmasters International requires that
elected club officers receive District conducted officer training every
six months. Training materials presented must cover four club
success topics defined by Toastmasters International for attending
officers to receive eligibility credit towards the Distinguished Club
Program. District 3 meets these requirements by offering
Toastmasters Leadership Institute in June/July and December/January each year.
For more information about Leadership Institute, contact the
TLI
Chairman at "tli" at aztoastmasters.org. |

| Judging a speech contest is different from
evaluating a speech. It's important that members who serve as
contest judges be aware of the difference and know how to judge
properly. District 3 regularly conducts speech contest judging
training under the direction of the Contest Judges Chairman. If you
are interested in become a proficient contest judge or what to attend the
training to better understand the criteria for contest level speaking,
contact the
Contest Judges Chairman. |

| Interested in competitive speaking?
Several different speech contests are regularly offered in which you can
participate as a contestant. Even if you are not interested in
participating, you can learn just by observing the contestants. The
most prestigious contest offered is the annual International Speech
Contest. From February through August each year, members begin
competing at the club level for the chance to advance through the area,
division, district, and regional contests - culminating in the contest
finals held during the Toastmasters International Convention in
August. The winner of the International event receives the title "World
Champion of Public Speaking". |

| Many of the educational requirements for club
officer training come directly from the Toastmasters educational
programs. Since conducting these same programs also contributes to
individual member educational achievements, District 3 regularly invites
ACS and ACG candidates to present educational modules at Toastmasters
Leadership Institute (TLI). To better prepare these
candidates, the TLI Faciliator Coordinator conducts
Train-the-Trainers programs prior to the TLI facilitator selection process
for each Summer & Winter TLI. For more information about
facilitator training, contact the
TLI Chairman at "tli" at aztoastmasters.org. |
