Add five new, dual, or reinstated members (transfer members to not count) during the program dates. Toastmasters International offers a 10% discount to the Toastmasters store and an award ribbon. District 3 incentives may differ from year to year.

Here are the contests and their effective program dates:

  • Smedley Award: August 1 - September 30

  • Talk Up Toastmasters!: February 1 - March 31

  • Beat the Clock: May 1 - June 30

Here are some ideas for building your club's membership

  • Hold an Open House at least once a quarter
  • Create and maintain an attractive and useful club website
  • Tell friends and acquaintances how excited you are about the speech you just heard,
the meeting you attended, the CC you just earned, strategies you’ve just mastered, and the friends you have made!
  • Wear your Toastmasters pin, use your Toastmasters mug, carry your Toastmasters folder, and use your Toastmasters carryall
  • Contact non-renewed members to let them know you remember them, encourage them to return
  • Host a table at your company’s educational fair, local job fair, and other events
  • Leave your club’s bookmarks at the local library- even place them inside self-help books (ask the Librarian first)
  • Leave an extra Toastmasters Magazine at the dentist’s office, with contact information for your club
  • Celebrate your club’s anniversary
  • Hold a Speechcraft!
Take 4 - 6 consecutive meetings and promote them as a seminar on Building Communication Skills, or Leadership 101. Charge $20 (increases perceived value over "free") and at Graduation, offer your participants a way to continue improving their skills by joining your club. Apply the $20 to their New Member Fee, and it's a win/win for all! For more information, email To prevent spam, this email address is an image..
